Hi, it's Lauren here,

Muscular Dystrophy has effected my family's life for over 60 years.

- My grandad had the condition but back in those days they didn't know the different types and he passed away in his 20's from pneumonia

- My mum had the condition as well as lung, heart and other medical issues such as diabetes and having a stroke in her 30's. She had 24 hour carers and passed away at the age of 36. The doctor's told her she had Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy.

- My auntie had the condition as well as heart, lung and throat issues. She had a breathing machine from a young age and had to be fed through a peg. Her husband was her full time carer until she passed away at the age of 40. She was also told she had Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy.

- I found out in January 2017 at the age of 21 that i have Muscular Dystrophy. It isn't affecting my life too much as of yet. Yes i have 5 heart conditions and weak lungs but i'm not letting it stop me living life to the max. I have been told that I've got Myofibrillar Muscular Dystrophy which means that is also the type my grandad, mum and auntie had.
